Oregon Scientific THN132N Wireless Temperature Sensor Reviews

I have this sensor or one just like it that came with my Oregon Wireless Thermometer Model # RMR603HGA. Yesterday, I noticed that the batteries needed replacing for the sensor as well as the base. I did not get the desired result of being able to read the outside temperature although the base was working to give the temperature in my house. Thanks to the info given by some kind people on the Amazon site, I managed to get everything back to good working order by pushing down on the "Reset" button in the battery compartment of the base unit. This is done by using the tool provided (or an opened paper clip may be used). I had done that previously after replacing the batteries, but it needed to be done again a few times after also changing the batteries in the sensor unit, while having the base set on Channel 1. It kept moving to a different channel (un-numbered channel for room temp reading) but after 2-3 attempts, it gave the desired result! Thanks to those who mentioned this. I almost thought I needed a new sensor. Make sure that all batteries are changed before they start to leak! I had forgotten that the sensor also has batteries (2 AAA size). I keep the sensor enclosed in an inverted plastic bag (loosely wrapped to allow for air to get in) all of which is enclosed in a small bird feeder hung from a tree limb,in order to protect it from the elements and in the shade to avoid overexposure to the sun.

What can I say, I opened the box, put batteries in, turned it on and it has been sending temperature ever since.br /br /I use this in combination with the OS USB enabled wireless thermometer to compare indoor, outdoor and attic temps in real time. It does not exactly read the same as the other two units when they are all three in the same spot, but at this price point I would not expect it to. I figure its within 2 degrees F of the absolutely correct temperature. I dont make use of the humitidy readings because I do not believe any electronic humidity device that costs less than 00 can be very accurate.
