It's OK... But Not Perfect!! - Donald Alford - Castro Valley, CA USA
Two major features are missing. As one reviewer noted (I concur) for the price you'd expect a back-light feature. Also of note is the lack of an alarm function to accompany the clock feature (not to be confused with the ALARM to ALERT you to extreme High or LOW temperatures). If you were thinking of replacing your nightstand alarm clock - forget it.

One of the better LaCrosse products for Hobbyists - F. Gillett - Small Town in Kansas
I've owned the LaCrosse WS-9020U-IT for about 8 months. It was easy to set up and after an initial wait of several hours for the clock to read the atomic clock signal, it has worked fine. br /br /The LaCrosse replaced an Oregon Scientific forecaster which was lost during a move. In my opinion, the Oregon Scientific was more accurate, but it did not have as many forecast possibilities and features. Instead of forecasting only Sun, Cloudy, Partly Cloudy, and Rain, the LaCrosse also includes forecasts for Lowest night time temp., snow, frost, storms, high winds, tempest (that's what it indicated during a recent tornado warning for the area), fog, etc. Unfortunately, anything other than the 4 icons are in the lower section and are somewhat difficult to read as it alternates between those, the lowest and highest temp of the day, and forecast lowest temperature for the night.br /br /Instead of the silly boy or girl icons which are on so many LaCrosse products, the display is more simple and straight forward; good for a weather hobbyist. Indoor and Outdoor Temperature and Humidity are in large numerals. There is a great bar-graph which shows changes for a 12 hour period of time, in additon there is an arrow showing the current tendency, up or down. br /br /The biggest drawback to the WS-9020U-IT is that there is no backlight of any kind. At this price point it should not have been omitted. In addition, the viewing angle isn't great so the forecaster needs to be placed where the light is adequate as well as at the correct angle. That combined with the small lettering for the expanded forecasts which alternate between several things, it is difficult to read at best. Trying to get the information you want with a quick glance is impossible. br /br /I'm really torn between giving it 3 stars or 4. It is feature rich but the lack of backlight and small lettering is a substantial issue. Since I don't belive the remote sensor is 100% accurate (reading a few degrees higher than it should), my final decision is to only give 3 stars. I don't regret the purchase, but if I had it to do over, I'd want a unit with a backlight for easier viewing.

Honeywell TS34C Long Range Temperature and Humidity Sensor for Professional Weather Station TE923W, White

Honeywell TS34C Long Range Temperature and Humidity Sensor for Professional Weather Station TE923W, White Reviews

After getting my honeywell system I noticed it could monitor 4 more locations, and I have a deep freeze that I want to keep an eye on. This (loaded with bp-91 lithium cells) goes in my deep freeze, then reports on channel 2 which has alarms in the event that my freezer warms up. It works great for that use, and i plan to get another for my guest house when it is not occupied so I can tell if someone left the heat on or it is going to freeze back there. br /br /One of these comes with the 923 / 924 systems, but adding more gives you the coverage for temperature sensitve locations other than just outside (channel 1)br /br /In my case, the food in the freezer is more than worth the monitoring and alarm ability, so it was a no brain decision to buy it. I'll have to think about how often the heat gets left on in the guest house.br /br /

La Crosse Technology TX21U-IT 915 MHz Wireless Temperature and Humidity Sensor

La Crosse Technology TX21U-IT 915 MHz Wireless Temperature and Humidity Sensor Reviews

I was originally given the WS-9023 Weather Station as a gift (with this single sensor). I have since bought two more sensors through Amazon for use with the system. First, all units sitting side by side give the same readings within 0.1 °F (all emperiments should be repeatable...they should fail in exactly the same way). In addition, I have an airport with a reporting weather station less than 0.5 miles away and have found that the readings I get are very close to what the local airport weather station reports. br /br /Unlike other experiences with battery life, my experience with battery life have been outstanding. Anticipating that I would have to periodically replace the batteries in all units on a reasonably frequent basis, I used rechargeable batteries in all units. That was July 2008 and they are still running on their original charge. But battery manufacturer apparently does make a difference, given the various rechargeable batteries that I uae. I have one unit mounted outside, one upstairs and one downstairs in the house. Range of signal does not seem to be an issue for me at least around the house. br /br /As a practical limit, the electronic hygrometer can only read as high as 89.1% even in a zero visibility fog. br /br /Very pleased with the performance overall.

Good Addition - Julian Holt - Sacramento, Ca United States
This device adds an additional sensing station; I placed it in my attic to monitor temperatures in the summer, and it did the job.

Weather transmitter replacement - Larry Pennington - USA
This item was a replacement for the same item that has worked well for the last ten years. I got this one, hooked it up and it workes great. Looking forward to another ten years of good service.
